Carrefour and Deliveroo expand their partnership to bring on-demand groceries to their customers in France, after launching in Belgium, Italy and Spain:
- In France, a less than 30-minute home-delivery service is being launched this week, starting in Paris with plans for a rollout to 10 other top cities over the coming months,
- Rollout is picking up speed in Belgium with the forthcoming extension of the service to Antwerp in April and then in Ghent in May, following Brussels and Liège on 5 March,
- Italy has already rolled out the service to 50 major cities,
- In Spain, Carrefour has been in a partnership since spring 2020.
Carrefour is today the leader in home grocery delivery, offering complementary grocery delivery services. With this partnership, Carrefour is strengthening its express home shopping delivery offer and extending this offer to Europe’s main cities.
Deliveroo is developing its on demand grocery offering in these countries, giving customers a wide selection of everyday products from Carrefour's supermarket shelves. Thanks to the network of Carrefour stores connected to the Deliveroo website, demand for 30-minute shopping deliveries can be met – at attractive prices, and with a wide range of about 1000 products available.
This international partnership marks a new stage in the development of our e-commerce. It allows us to significantly expand the reach of our services at a crucial time of market acceleration.Having our Carrefour stores on the Deliveroo platform in France, Belgium, Italy and Spain also raises our profile alongside our own e-commerce services and the other partnerships we have already entered into at local level
says Elodie Perthuisot, the Carrefour Group's Executive Director of E-Commerce, Data and Digital Transformation.
On demand grocery is a fast growing market and one of Deliveroo’s strategic priorities. We are very happy to be able to team up with Carrefour, and together bring on-demand groceries to consumers. We are excited about partnering with Carrefour to make the best of their amazing food, their expertise and their proven track-record for operational excellence, combined with Deliveroo’s leading delivery service and consumer experience. This will allow us to bring a wider choice to customers, so they can turn to Deliveroo whatever the occasion
says Ajay Lakhwani – Global VP for Groceries & Commercial Partnerships at the Deliveroo Group.
