The development of agroecology through the Carrefour Quality Lines and organic products
Agroecology involves the integrated use of nature's resources and mechanisms in farming. It has been eagerly-awaited by customers and partners in the farming sector and drives innovation. Carrefour is committed to developing agroecology through its Carrefour Quality Line products and other products made using organic farming methods.
Carrefour Quality Lines: a collaborative approach
Carrefour has had its Carrefour Quality Lines for more than 20 years now. The initiative is based on long-term partnerships between Carrefour and its partner producers, breeders and processors. Through these special business relationships, Carrefour and its partners are able to ensure compliance with a raft of agro-ecological practices, innovating so as to more effectively meet its consumers' expectations.
Through the Carrefour Quality Lines, the retailer is able to guarantee fair prices for both producers and consumers, as well as producing tasty products made using authentic expertise which are good for both people and the environment.
As of the end of 2016, nearly 20,000 producers had signed up to the initiative and 464 Carrefour Quality Lines were available in stores throughout the world. The number of Carrefour Quality Lines is on the increase, with the launch of new lines in many countries, such as Putruela grapes in Argentina, Korla pears in China and Salers cheese in France.
The Group has also created a selection of products made using organic farming methods. Examples of these can be found in the fresh produce section, the food grocery area and in the clothing department (under the Tex brand in France), as well as in cosmetics. Carrefour stores sell more than 2000 controlled organic food products.
