After completing his engineering studies at the Institut Supérieur d’Agriculture in the Rhône-Alpes region, Guy Yraeta joined Carrefour as Textile Section supervisor in 1976, becoming Non-Food Department manager five years later. In 1985 he was appointed Checkout Manager and then Grocery Manager in 1987. In 1988, he was appointed Store Manager and two years later, he took up the post of Grocery Director - France. In 1994, he became Regional Director in the Northeast and Central area. Starting in 1995, he held the post of Executive Director – Italy for four years. He was appointed Executive Director for Poland in 1999, a post that he held until becoming Director for Other European Countries in 2003. In 2004, Guy Yraeta joined Hypermarkets - France as Executive Director and on 3 February 2005, he became Managing Director Hypermarkets for France. On 20 April 2005, he was appointed to membership of the Management Board. On 23 January, 2008, he was appointed Managing Director Europe (ex France). On the 28th of July he was appointed Executif Director of Spain, Belgium, Italy and Poland.
