Brazil : Promoting the education of young people
The Carrefour International Foundation has teamed up with the National Sports Association in Brazil to support the Integrar Arte e Vida project.
On February 15, 2007, the program "Integrar Arte e Vida" was officially launched by a football match in the city of Santos (Sao Paulo state). This program aims to educate young people through sport and cultural activities.
Addressed to young people aged 7 to 17 years-old coming from precarious areas, it offers various sports activities to help youth development and to combating idleness, too often responsible for violence and drug use.
Results 2009
The project supported by the Foundation in 2009 allowed the enrollment of 765 additional youth in 4 schools. Children and teens supported by the association come from the cities of Santos, Guaruja, São Vicente (São Paulo).
The staff of Carrefour in Brazil participate actively in the program. Thus, in 2009, 67 employees have helped to publicize the association towards customers while 20 employees were taught at the Carrefour Institute.
