Turkey : Food basket distribution with the Turkish Red Crescent

The Carrefour Foundation supports the Red Crescent in its food program towards people in need during the Ramadan.

Numerous are the Turkish families who do not earn enough money to afford buying sufficient and quality food. This situation is very difficult to accept on a daily basis, but it is even more difficult to cope with during the Ramadan, an upbeat and very special holiday in Muslim countries.

In order to diminish these inequalities, the Carrefour Foundation has decided to support the Red Crescent financially and materially, giving the association the possibility to buy 10 000 food baskets to its usual food supplier. The baskets, composed of various products such as rice, dried beans, sugar or flower, will then be distributed to families in need.

25 of the 27 stores implanted in the country also decided to mobilize by allowing their clients to buy additional food baskets to give to the Red Crescent. For each Carrefour Basket sold, the stores committed to donate 1Tl (ie approximately € 50c) directly to the association. They hope to collect more than 30 000€ this way.
