Each day, in most of Carrefour supermarkets in France, men and women take part in the collect of foodstuffs with the objective to give them to various associations including the French Federation of Food banks.
Many products are indeed prevented from being sold and taken off the shelves for one reason or another, such as labelling errors, faulty packaging, expired sell-by date, or display date. These products are sorted and then taken by the associations.

To support the collection of fresh foods without interrupting the cold chain, Carrefour Foundation is jointly financing the purchase of new refrigerated vehicles in France.

In 2011, in response to the increasing demand for fresh products, the Foundation finances the purchase of 15 refrigerated vehicles and of 7 cold rooms.
