Romania : Helping the social integration of the homeless living in Bucarest - Samusocial
The Carrefour Foundation helps Samusocial din Romania to provide help to the homeless linving in Bucarest.
The Carrefour Foundation has been collaborating with the Samusocial din România for 3 years. Along this time, it has financed the creation of a hygiene facility and allowed the association to strengthen the teams working at night in Bucarest. In 2011, the will of the Foundation is to support the work of the teams working during the day. It will therefore finance caring missions to help homeless adults socially excluded to reintegrate (themselves), in partnership with Ateliers Sans Frontières. This project aims at giving them the opportunity to find a job on the Labour Market, while maintaining their access to special social and medical services.
Official data show that 15 000 homeless people live in Roumania, 5 000 of them living in the capital Bucarest. This program especially targets 1 700 of them, with the objective, with 20 news beneficiaries each month, to allow 30 persons to fin a job back within a year.
