Romania : Food Aid Program for poor families in Romania with the Red Cross

The Carrefour Foundation and the Red Cross struggle against hunger and malnutrition in Romania

Millions of Romanian don’t eat enough every day. Living in remote areas, their incomes are low and don’t allow them to afford having sane and equilibrated food habits.

The Carrefour Foundation wishes to deepen the collaboration that already exists between Carrefour Romania and the Red Cross. In 2011, it will give 150 000 € to the association to spread the current national network to 18 new departments. 15 800 very poor families will thus receive 192 500 kg of food. 423 volunteers and 40 of the 47 Red Cross Office across the country will take part in the project.
