In partnership with Carrefour Foundation, the association Terroirs & Cultures has decided to create, launch and extend a training centre in the Aubrac region of France, where knowledge and skills can be shared regarding the ‘terroir’ (i.e. locally- and regionally-specific products and culture). This approach is part of a vision of sustainable development with four main strands: ecological, economic, social and cultural.

In order to be able to offer its professional advice on the distribution and development of retail networks and at the request of the association, Carrefour has accepted to be part of the steering committee defining the major subject for the training course. Carrefour has considerable experience, having created over 300 local and regional French products and having developed over 450 “Quality Labels” worldwide.

From the beginning of 2011, the training centre for those involved in local and regional products will offer courses aimed at teaching participants the skills needed to apply a ‘terroir’ or ‘regional product’ approach that incorporates the various dimensions of this development process, “from local to global”.
