France : Emergency aid following Atlantic storm Xynthia
The Foundation comes to the aid of storm victims in the Vendee and Charente-Maritime.
Atlantic storm Xynthia caused widespread damage in the West of France.
Two Carrefour stores were approached for emergency assistance.
- Three municipalities affected particularly badly by the catastrophe appealed to the Manager of the Angoulins store for help with non-food requirements. In total, 1,000 car rugs, 200 mattresses and 45 school kits were provided to the municipalities of Angoulins, Chatelaillon and Yves to meet the needs of 390 families.
- At La Roche-sur-Yon, six pallets of dry products (particularly ready meals) were donated to food banks.
The Carrefour International Foundation funded these gifts, which cost about €19,000 in all.
Carrefour France has also released €5,000 to provide non-food purchase vouchers for disaster victims in these three areas.
