China : Strenghtening farmer’s club in Fengdu, China
Humana People to People fights against poverty by promoting rural development and professional traning for comunities that are far for the labor market.
After having lead several successful similar programs in Africa, Humana People to People launches in 2011 a new project for rural development in the centre of China. Thanks to the support of the Carrefour Foundation, it aims at reinforcing and professionalizing farmer’s clubs, to increase their production and their income up to 30% by 3 years. To do so, HPP mobilizes members of the comunity in order to strenghthen their ability to take decisions on their own. 25 farmer’s clubs present in 25 villages will benefit from the work of the trainers, representing 3 200 people over a 3-year period. These beneficiaries will be trained to sustainable agriculture, conservation, quality and reduction of pesticides and waste. Apart from them, the entires communities will benefit from the program that includes building priviesfor example.
In due time, farmers may also be able to sell their products in the nearest Carrefour stores of he country.
