After 400 years of slumber, the volcano Sinabung located on the Indonesian island of Sumatra has been awake for a week. The 20,000 villagers evacuated in emergency in response to two impressive volcanoes have found refuge in the towns and villages around. Employees of shops in Medan and Medan Fair Citra Garden have mobilized to provide emergency food to victims. Thus, after careful study of the needs on site, volunteers have prepared, delivered hygiene products, water and baby food at two refugee collection points: Jambur Lige in Jahe Kaban and Jambur Taras in Berastagi.

Assistance from the Carrefour Foundation up to € 5000 has helped finance donations and cover transportation costs.
