Carrefour Belgium, the first European retailer to sell 100% green gas and electricity

As part of its sustainable development policy, Carrefour Belgium is keen to involve its customers in fighting against global warming and protecting our dwindling energy resources by giving them the opportunity to adopt an eco-citizen attitude and choose green energy for their homes. Carrefour Energie EcoPlanet 100% green electricity is produced solely from clean, renewable energy sources: wind power, biomass or biogas, qualitative cogeneration and water power. Apart from the benefit to the planet of this type of approach, customers also enjoy low prices and a simplified procedure. Furthermore, customer purchasing power remains unchanged because green energy is no more expensive than traditional energy, and its price is guaranteed fixed for the term of the contract. The project is also supported by the European Commission via its "Sustainable Energy for Europe" program. Applying this "best practice" has led the European Commission to recognize Carrefour Belgium as a pioneer in the development of green and sustainable energy.
