Carrefour Malaysia is extending a hand to the disabled by offering jobs
Carrefour Malaysia is extending a hand to the disabled by offering jobs. The move is in line with the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) program which is to create equal job opportunities to every citizen including the disabled.
Carrefour Malaysia currently employs 21 associates who have physical disabilities and is improving its facilities in order to adapt to the needs of the disabled so that they could perform tasks within their capacity. On last February and May, Carrefour Malaysia had conducted interview sessions with the disabled associations to identify qualified candidates to join the company. During a press conference on recruitment program for the disabled, Carrefour Malaysia/Singapore Managing Director, Shafie Shamsuddin talked to potential employees.
Carrefour Malaysia targets a minimum of five percent which represents 400 jobs for the handicapped from the overall total of employment by the year 2012.
