The Carrefour project for responsible commerce involves assuming its responsibilities from producer to customer and encouraging constructive dialogue with its stakeholders.
Description of image:
Carrefour’s project for responsible commerce involves assuming its responsibilities based on its stakeholders’ expertise and its own risk mapping. The Group has identified the challenges throughout the chain of responsibility from producer to customer, and is committed to continuous improvement in each area in terms of:
- Production/manufacturing conditions and relations with suppliers and the agricultural community, sustainable relationships with our suppliers, promoting local suppliers and products, responsible sourcing (control of social and environmental conditions of production and protection of natural resources) and promoting environmentally friendlier farming practices.
- The transport of products, through optimization of the logistics chain, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and reducing noise.
-
Store management:
By taking action at store level, through reduced consumption of natural resources and energy, sorting waste and reducing wastage, controlling pollution, intergrating environmental criteria into store building/remodeling and the safety of people in-store.
By taking action on products, through pricing suitable for different levels of purchasing power, a large selection of products, product quality and safety, reduced packaging and offering products enabling consumers to have a sustainable consumption.
By taking action on employee management, working conditions, fair reward schemes, respect for diversity and the safety of personnel at our sites (stores, warehouses etc.).
By taking action on the services we offer our customers, through raising their awareness of sustainability in stores, promoting waste reduction, sorting and recycling (collection points, checkout bag alternatives etc.) and ensuring accessibility via public transport and for the disabled.
- Our relations with customers by listening to customers and satisfying their needs, democratizing consumption and promoting sustainable consumption to customers.
- Our relations with local communities, by promoting local employment, integrating into the urban setting, creating livable spaces and undertaking charitable and solidarity activities and dialogue with local communities
