China’s 200th Carrefour hypermarket opened at the end of November in Changzhou, which is in the coastal province of Jiangsu, north of Shanghai.
The new store boasts a sales area of 8363 m² and has space for 300 cars.

The Carrefour group was the first international retailer to start operating on the Chinese market back in 1995 when it opened two hypermarkets in Beijing and Shanghai. Since then, it has been pursuing its strong growth policy, and has opened between 20 and 25 new stores per year since 2007. By the end of the year, there will be 203 Carrefour hypermarkets in China spread over more than 50 towns and cities.
