Carrefour Belgium recently launched Carrefour Energie EcoPlanet, a service offering customers 100% green electricity produced from clean and renewable energy sources. These sources include wind power (up to 62.96%), biomass or biogas (up to 35.58%), high-quality cogeneration (up to 1.38%) and water power (up to 0.07%). The initiative is supported by the European Commission as part of its "Sustainable Energy for Europe" programme.
Carrefour Energie EcoPlanet underlines Carrefour's on-going commitment to promoting responsible consumption. As the first European retailer to offer customers 100% green gas and electricity, Carrefour Belgium is helping consumers play their part in protecting the environment by doing something as simple as flicking a light switch. By offering 100% green electricity at the same price as standard electricity, Carrefour is putting renewable energy within everyone's reach. Moreover, since purchasing power is also one of our customers' major concerns, Carrefour Energie EcoPlanet guarantees a set price for electricity over a one- to three-year period.
