Carrefour launches "Carrefour Discount", a new line of quality products at discount prices

With the launch of its new “Carrefour Discount” product line at the end of May, Carrefour offers its customers a selection of everyday essentials at very low prices that meet the brand’s quality standards.
The new own-store brand covers over 400 food and non-food reference items, including household goods and personal care products. It is Carrefour’s way of addressing the current economic worries of consumers and of winning over new customers.

Carrefour Discount: a tailor-made product line covering core consumer needs

In today’s tough economic environment, Carrefour wants to provide consumers with a tailor-made solution for keeping a grip on spending on everyday needs while offering the support of a national brand. With its hard discount pricing policy, Carrefour Discount consists of 400 reference items ranging from food to household goods and personal care products, covering the essential needs of everyday life.
Positioned as an entry-level product line, Carrefour Discount complements the existing portfolio of Carrefour brand products while providing consumer with a direct alternative to hard discount brands. Through this new marketing offensive, Carrefour France sets itself off from its competitors and increases its appeal for winning new customers.

Carrefour Discount: an alternative to hard discount products, without compromising on quality

Carrefour Discount fits within the tradition of the Carrefour brand by proposing the best price/quality trade off for all 400 reference items. Carrefour Discount products are sold at very competitive prices without in the least sacrificing the Carrefour brand’s quality standards. With Carrefour Discount, customers are guaranteed that its products meet the banner’s quality standards. Carrefour Discount products are made by Carrefour-certified suppliers in compliance with precise and rigorous specifications. They contain no GMOs and meet the banner’s tracking requirements. Organoleptic tests are conducted by external panels on Carrefour Discount products to ensure that taste is up to standard.

 

Carrefour Discount: simple packaging, easy to spot on the shelf

To simplify the shopping experience and help customers save time, a simple, modern and easy-to-identify visual identity was developed for the Carrefour Discount brand. The logo is readily identified; the packaging is white with no frills and the colour segmentation is very sharp to enhance readability. Information is also prioritised to facilitate the customer’s choice. In this way, our customers can immediately identify Carrefour Discount brand products from the shelves.


Carrefour Discount: available in stores in late May

Launched in France at the end of May, Carrefour Discount will be available in all Carrefour hypermarkets, Champion and Carrefour Market supermarkets, Carrefour City and Carrefour Contact convenience stores, as well as at Ooshop, Carrefour’s online supermarket.

- Beauty and personal care products: tissue paper, diapers, wipes, shampoo, etc.

  • A pricing policy aligned with that of hard discount banners

  • Simple, modern packaging that is easily identified within the store
